Housing Available—April-July 2024

We are looking for someone to stay in our bright, clean and remodeled 1920s cottage near the University of Oregon, from April 2024-July 2024. We are somewhat flexible on the exact timing. It could be as early as April 1 and the lease would end no later than July 15, 2024.

The 3 bedroom, 1 bath house has hardwood floors throughout, new kitchen appliances, skylights, and an attic bonus room. Square footage on the main floor is 1365. The house is fully furnished and is located in a safe, friendly and quiet neighborhood less than a mile from the university. The house is well set up for families with children, but also would be great for new faculty members or individuals visiting Eugene for a few months.

Kitchen has a new, quiet Bosch dishwasher and new Kitchen Aid gas stove and convection oven. Living room has a wood burning stove and a piano. Sunroom/office area is bright and airy with high ceilings, a ceiling fan, and a skylight. Adjustable standing desk with large monitor, keyboard, and wireless printer. French doors open onto a large deck and landscaped backyard.

There are three bedrooms in the house, in addition to an upstairs attic bonus room that can be used as a sleeping area and has a twin sized bed. Bedroom 1 is near the front of the house has two windows with nice afternoon light and a queen sized bed. Bedroom 2 has a twin bed and a pull out twin trundle bed; it has two windows and looks into the backyard. Bedroom 3 has a full sized bed and has one window that looks into the side yard. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are connected to each other with a large sliding wooden door; you must pass through bedroom 2 to reach bedroom 3.

There are various ways the rooms and beds can be configured, and a lot of options for a family with kids. The beds fit together in a bunkbed arrangement, and multiple twin beds can be placed in the upstairs attic room.

Laundry room/mudroom with new high efficiency washer and drier. External drying racks and lines for summer. Outside storage and a covered area for bikes. Backyard has two fruit-bearing apple trees, golden raspberries, blueberries, and huckleberries. Lawn furniture, weber BBQ, and telescope are all available for use in summer. Adult and child bikes, scooters, also available to use. The outside space is on automated watering system, and a gardener will come to maintain the yard.

The house is in an ideal location: less than 1 mile to the University of Oregon, easy commuting by bike or foot. Blocks away from restaurants, bars, ice cream, and parks. It is within walking distance of two day care centers run by the University of Oregon (Moss Street and Olum Center), Edison Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, and South Eugene High School. Our street is extremely friendly, neighbors all know each other, and it is safe and populated with many families.

Please be aware that the cottage does not have central AC (there is a window AC unit in one of the bedrooms) and there is no stand alone TV, though there is a large monitor in the sunroom.

Rent is $2,000 a month and includes all utilities, a house cleaner coming twice a month, and a gardener to take care of the outside areas.
